AST hardwood floors are produced from our unique and beautiful Northern NSW species, which are amongst the densest and hardest timbers in the world making them ideal for decorative flooring. Timber is a natural, energy efficient, environmentally friendly and importantly renewable resource. Our timber is mainly sourced from the renewable regrowth forests owned by the NSW state government and managed by Forests NSW whose native forest management is internationally recognized as being at the forefront of world’s best practice.
AST’s commitment to a sustainable environment has seen us become world leaders in solar kiln drying a natural and environmentally sound process, providing a superior product and less green house emissions by replacing fossil fuels with the natural energy of the sun.
A solar kiln dried floor is smooth, with low dust attracting properties making it hygienic in service. It will not trap dirt or grit and organisms that can cause allergies, asthma and other ill-health effects.
An AST hardwood floor is cost effective, as it will withstand the rigors of heavy every day use long after many other floor coverings require replacement. And when the surface coating begins to look a little tired it can be re-sanded and re-coated further extending the life of the floor.
