Before and After

General

Every AST hardwood floor has been carefully seasoned, precision milled and quality checked prior to dispatch from the mill. Like all kiln-dried products it requires careful handling, storage and installation to ensure the best possible appearance and performance in service.

The following links provides some simple and practical tips that will ensure a quality, hassle free installation and minimise potential for costly callbacks.

Should you encounter a situation not covered by this guide or have any questions about a particular installation you should contact your supplier, AST or The NSW Timber Development Association on Phone No (02) 9360 3088.

Special Note for Installers of Wide Board (130 x 19 mm) Top Nail Flooring.

At AST our T & G flooring is graded in accordance with AS 2796.2-2006. The AST wide board Top Nail (130 x 19 mm) product is manufactured with a centre-milled reversible profile and is graded on the best face.
The graded face is clearly identified with a chalk mark. The grade of the unmarked face is not warranted by AST. When cutting in the floor always ensure the marked face is turned up. If the end matching of adjoining boards in a run do not align, never ‘end-for-end’ the boards so that the marked face is turned down. Instead put the board aside and use it in the next run with boards of the same end-match orientation.
